UMAREX is the world’s leading seller of replica guns for purchase over the counter and Europe’s largest importer of air guns. Its product line includes defense weapons, recreational and sporting guns, airsoft guns, high-quality LED-flashlights, archery and steel goods. Together with its subsidiary CARL WALTHER GmbH, which manufactures defense weapons and match guns for Olympic competitions, the UMAREX Group offers products for every requirement and age group. They are developed and manufactured at the german factories in Arnsberg and Ulm. UMAREX AT as subsidiary covers not only Austria, but delivers also to other countries in the south-east of Europe.
The US-daughter company Umarex USA, Inc. moved into a new 117,000 square foot facility in July of 2010, located at Chaffee Crossing in Fort Smith, Arkansas. The new facility is home to its warehousing and distribution operations as well as its corporate offices, which include marketing, sales and a fully staffed customer service department that handles product refurbishment, warranty work and technical advice.
Founded in 1972, UMAREX is still an owner-managed, mid-sized company with approx. 1000 employees worldwide. It is now run by Eyck Pflaumer and Martin Wonisch, the second generation of the two founding families. The key to the company’s success in over four decades has been the acquisition of licenses to build replicas of well-known weapons, which can be sold without restrictions. In the recent years the focus went also to Outdoor-products, archery, knives and many goods which don’t need gun licenses or age restrictions – being presented at this year’s ISPO fair.
